The council raised $36,000 in support of the Proton Therapy Center, which treats pediatric cancer with the world’s most advanced radiation therapy available.

The council collectively raised $33,000 and voted to fund the Mental Health Trajectories Program. 

The program created here at Cincinnati Children's uses AI and machine learning to create tools for earlier identification of children at the highest risk of developing a mental health concern over time.

The council collectively raised $21,000 and voted to fund Camp Smile — a summer program for children with craniofacial disorders. 

The camp is open to all patients in K-12 grade with craniofacial conditions, regardless of their ability to pay, our camp offers the ultimate one-day summer camp experience in an enviornment that suits each child's unique medical needs.

In an abundance of caution, we made adjustments to our voting schedule and programming during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep staff and the community safe.

Funding from 2019 and 2020 was deferred to 2021 to support Camp Smile, a summer program for children with caniofacial disorders.

Networking Opportunities

In January 2019, the members met at the Critical Care Building Design Warehouse to learn more about the progress with the new building and invited prospective members to come hear more about the group.

Exclusive Invitations

In October 2020, members were invited to a private, behind-the-scenes virtual presentation of the medical center’s newest expansion project—renovating our College Hills campus. Members learned how this expansion will help us better support kids and families who are coping with a child’s mental health issue and must navigate the healthcare system for treatment. This expansion helps us support families by providing earlier interventions, improving access to needed services and delivering targeted, evidenced-based, personalized care in new, renovated facilities.

Camp NJoyItAll 
All children like having fun. That's why Cincinnati Children's has created a week-long overnight summer camp experience for our patients with cancer, blood diseases and immune disorders. Camp NJoyItAll is an opportunity for kids ages 7-17 to develop new skills, form lasting friendships and build self-esteem. Perhaps the greatest benefit of camp is the opportunity for children to connect with others who are facing similar challenges.

CuSTOM
The new Center for Stem Cell and Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM) at Cincinnati Children's is a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, clinicians and entrepreneurs using advances in developmental biology and pluripotent stem cell technologies to revolutionize personalized medicine and improve patient care. Our world-renowned scientists have developed a way to use stem cells from a patient’s own body to generate miniature organs, known as organoids. These organoids are a revolutionary platform to understanding disease, developing new personalized treatments, and, ultimately, generating tissue for transplantation.

DIPG Research
You don't often see the words "good news" and "aggressive brain tumors" in the same headline. But there is no other way to describe the findings of a recent study for a treatment of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). This therapy may have the potential to treat other types of cancer, and we’re testing it in aggressive brain cancers first, since there is such an urgent need for treatment. Our team hopes to begin clinical trials in the near future, after we confirm the compound's safety.
